How It Works
Moose on the Loose races were created to give kids a great introduction to running on trails. With this, our main goal is to create races in which the kids have fun and achieve an attainable goal.
Races are divided into three different divisions, each running a different distance. The Mini Moose division is for kids ages 3-5 and features a 0.5ish mile course. The Junior Moose is for kids ages 6-9 and features a 1.5ish mile course. The Mighty Moose division is for kids ages 10-13 and features a 3ish mile course.
The Mighty Moose division will set out on their course first and about five minutes later, the Junior Moose will go off. Five minutes following the Junior Moose start, the Mini Moose will set out on their course. This will allow each division to be celebrated at the start and finish and will allow kids to feel comfortable running with others of their same age.
A parent or guardian is welcome to accompany their little Moose during the race for encouragement.
There will be at least one water station along each Mini Moose and Junior Moose course and at least two water stations along the Mighty Moose course. There will also be volunteers and race staff placed along the course with radios should runners need assistance or attention.
